ENSIFERUM AND SWALLOW THE SUN TO TOUR TOGETHER IN DECEMBER

Metal bands Ensiferum and Swallow The Sun are heading out on a seven-city record release tour in December. The Finnish tour, which will celebrate the new albums of the top Finnish heavy music acts, kicks off at Lahti’s Finlandia club on Thursday 5 December. The joint tour, curving through Rytmikorjaamo in Seinäjoki, Tullisali in Oulu, Lutakko in Jyväskylä, Pakkahuone in Tampere and Teatro in Turku, will culminate at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki on Saturday 14 December. The bands, which will release their new albums in October, will perform full-length shows at the tour’s concerts.

Folk metal band Ensiferum will release their ninth album Winter Storm on 18 October, the first single from the album, Winter Storm Vigilantes, was released in June with a music video. The songs on the upcoming album are composed by guitarist Markus Toivonen and the lyrics are based on bassist Sami Hinka’s as yet unreleased fantasy book. The album was produced by Janne Joutsenniemi and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren. Ensiferum’s previous album Thalassic was released in 2020 and topped the Finnish album charts and was #3 in the German album charts.

Swallow The Sun, who staple death and doom metal together in a sovereign manner, will release their new album Shining on the same day in October, also their ninth album in a row. The forthcoming album is produced by Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, Muse, Enter Shikari). With roots in Jyväskylä, the band has been infusing despair, beauty and heartache into their melancholic metal music for more than twenty years, achieving numerous chart toppers and award nominations alongside numerous world tours. An acclaimed history of the band’s history, written by journalist Matti Riekki, was published in January.

Ensiferum and Swallow The Sun are perfect for a joint tour, which will offer a unique opportunity to enjoy Finnish heavy music talent at the end of the year.
