Rock band The Holy, known for their luminous live performances, is calling it quits. The band’s farewell tour will take place in Jyväskylä’s Musta Kynnys on 26th of October.
The Holy has been part of our daily lives for the last 10 years and we have had a lot of fun together. We also want to end in a way that’s still fun, and now feels like the right time to do that.”The band has released three albums and an EP during their career.
“We’ve toured the world. We’ve spent hundreds of hours sitting in gig bakeries. Woken up together with far too little sleep to go to a new place. Spent countless hours in corners of airports and various booths. Laughed and cried together. Beaten our heads against the wall and then found solutions. We have grown together for ten years.”
Formed in 2014, The Holy has been a harbinger of Nordic melancholic post-punk and krautrock, capturing the hearts of audiences around the world. The band’s debut album Daughter garnered widespread attention and praise both in the domestic and international arena, earning a resounding four stars in the Helsingin Sanomat review and an Emma nomination in the Critics’ Choice category. The Holy has been one of the few Finnish bands to make a live broadcast on the legendary US radio station KEXP and toured extensively at festivals in Finland and Europe.
